Can't agree on a baby name? The Tiebreaker

Two lists go in. What comes out is what you agree on, what you almost agree on, and names neither of you wrote down that fit you both. One phone, five minutes, on the couch.

How it works

  1. Build your list. Type the names you love, or start from My list.
  2. Hand the phone over. Your partner builds theirs without seeing yours; the blind reveal is the fun part.
  3. The reveal: where you agree, where you almost agree, and what you both might love.

What the reveal shows

You both wrote it. Names on both lists count as agreement even when the spellings differ. An instant shortlist.

You almost agree. Kate and Katherine are one name in two outfits. If one of you wrote the short form and the other the classic, you are closer than you think.

Names neither of you wrote. Suggestions drawn from what both your lists lean toward, never just one of them, each with the reason it fits.

What it looks like

Maya's list: Clara, Kate, June, Alma. Daniel's list: Clara, Katherine, Theo, Rose. The reveal: Clara sits on both lists, Kate and Katherine turn out to be one name apart, and because both lists lean vintage with soft endings, the tiebreaker closes with names neither of them typed, each with the reason it fits them both.

How does the Tiebreaker choose the extra names?

It reads what your two lists already share: the styles, sounds and eras you each lean toward, and only suggests names that fit both of you. Neither list outranks the other, and every suggestion says why it fits.

Do we both need our own phone?

No. One phone, passed between you. Your partner builds their list without seeing yours; the reveal shows both.

What about a name that is not in your library?

It stays on your list and counts toward your agreement. A name we do not know just cannot add its voice to the suggestions.

Can we save the result?

Yes. Any name in the reveal goes to My list with one tap, and the whole result can be shared or printed.
