nametree

Your family already has a naming style. We find the names that fit it.

Every baby-name site shows you the same popularity lists. nametree works differently: you type in the names already in your family, and it reads their origins, sounds, era, and rhythm to suggest names that BELONG on your tree. Every suggestion explains itself: "shares its Hebrew roots with Elizabeth and Noa, and keeps your family's 3-letter signature."

How it works

nametree builds a picture of your family's naming style from the names you enter, then finds candidates that genuinely fit it, spanning 27 naming traditions and more than a century of real popularity history. Every suggestion explains its reasons in plain language, and if you add your last name, it checks how first and last sound together.

The privacy promise

Your names stay yours. The matching runs in your browser, the names you type are never sold or shared, and there are no ads and no accounts. We use basic, anonymous usage statistics to make nametree better, and nothing more.

Free forever, really

nametree costs almost nothing to run because the clever parts happen on your phone, not on servers. That's why it can stay free without ads. If we ever charge for anything, it will be optional extras (like a printable keepsake report), never the core experience.

Who made this

nametree is a project of The Road South: the product concept and the design were born at home in 2014, sketched by its designer around a simple idea her family kept proving true, that names live in families, not in lists. What you see here is that idea, built.
