The story
Adan is the unaccented American display of Spanish Adán, the Spanish form of Adam. Adam comes from the Hebrew word for man or humankind and is traditionally connected with adamah, ground or earth, matching the Genesis account of the first man formed from soil. The Spanish accent marks stress on the final syllable; records that omit accents often produce Adan without creating a separate etymology. Related forms include Adam, Adão, Adem, and the Hebrew Adam itself. The US curve has a small early trace, maintains a low presence through much of the twentieth century, rises noticeably in the 1990s, and stays in a high band through the 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s. Adan's American history is therefore steady rather than explosive. Its spelling tells a practical story about language and record systems, while the underlying name remains one of the oldest personal names in biblical tradition.
