We have not been able to confirm that reading in a primary Mapudungun dictionary, so we hold it lightly and say exactly that. What is beyond doubt is the living usage: Argentina's registry counts 4,587 people carrying Lilen, 1,279 of them in first position, with the record concentrated from the 1990s onward. The United States has never published the name at all. Some names arrive with a footnoted etymology; this one arrives with a landscape and a language that is older than the paperwork.
