The record barely knew it: about 40 in the 1990s, 250 in the 2000s, 850 in the 2010s. Then this decade: already 7,700, nine times the full 2010s with years still to run. No single cause is on record, and we decline to invent one; the name rises inside the broader current of Hebrew-rooted -el names that Latino Christian families especially have carried, Aziel beside Adriel and Azael, each charting separately.
