Kaiden is a modern English spelling variant in the Caden, Caiden, Kayden, and Kaiden family. It belongs to the broad late-twentieth-century fashion for two-syllable boys’ names ending in n, with families changing initials and vowels while keeping a similar sound. The spelling was essentially absent from American records before the 1990s. It climbed quickly through the 2000s, reached its strongest level in the 2010s, and eased only slightly in the 2020s. Kaiden is often pulled into the older Irish Aidan family and given the translation little fire, but Caden and Aidan have separate histories. A rhyme is not an etymology. Kaiden’s useful story is genuinely modern: a successful spelling choice shaped by American sound and style, closely related to Caiden and Kayden without borrowing an ancient Celtic meaning.
