Narinder is a Punjabi form of Narendra used especially among Sikhs. Narendra comes from Sanskrit elements meaning man or people and lord, producing the traditional sense lord of men. In Sikh families, however, Narinder belongs to Punjabi naming life rather than functioning as a statement of Hindu devotion; language history and religious identity should not be collapsed. The name is used by more than one gender, and the shared Sikh identifiers Singh and Kaur may accompany it in different family traditions.
