Questions about Cordelia

Does Cordelia really mean “heart”?

Not with any certainty. Cordelia goes back to Cordeilla in Geoffrey of Monmouth's 12th-century chronicle, the loyal daughter of King Leir, and Geoffrey may have based it on Creiddylad from Welsh legend. The heart reading comes from Latin cor, cordis, and fits the character; the name's actual root is disputed between Latin and Welsh.
