Jayden is a modern variant of Jaden, not an ancient biblical name with a settled meaning. Jaden itself appeared in late twentieth-century America, probably shaped by the familiar sounds of names such as Jason, Jordan, and Aidan. Jayden added a y and became the most successful spelling in a whole rhyming family. The US curve captures an unusually fast fashion cycle. The name is nearly absent before the 1990s, jumps sharply in the 2000s, reaches its high point in the 2010s, and falls substantially in the 2020s. Actor Jaden Smith, born in 1998, made the base spelling highly visible during the rise, while Jayden's own spelling spread far beyond any one bearer. The story is valuable precisely because it is modern: parents created a sound, many spellings competed, one surged, and a generation now carries the result.
