Kash
Meaning
modern coinage, related to "cash"
The story
Kash is cash with this century's favorite letter, and our meaning records say it without blushing: a modern coinage, related to the word in the register. The K is the whole move, the same one that made Karter, Kairo and Malakai, turning a word or a spelling into a deliberate choice. The record shows a flicker of Kashes across the early century, never more than 200 a decade, then the modern arrival: about 1,200 in the 2000s, 7,900 in the 2010s, and already 8,100 so far this decade, past the full 2010s with years to run. Cash and Kash chart separately, two spellings of the same confident syllable. In our records it goes to boys about 17,400 to 280. Whether a family hears money, Johnny Cash's shadow, or just a crisp modern sound, the K announces that nothing about the choice was accidental.
