Vicente is the Spanish and Portuguese form of Vincent, from the Roman cognomen Vincentius, out of Latin vinco, to conquer. Spain gives it four name days by Behind the Name's count, and the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking world keeps it near the top: 9th in Chile in 2021, 15th in Portugal in 2018, 36th in Uruguay in 2022. The American record has never once missed it, every decade since the 1890s, with six straight decades of growth from the 1950s through the 2000s and 2,425 boys so far this decade.
