Yaretzi deserves the honest version, because the popular one has no paper behind it. Baby-name sites everywhere repeat that Yaretzi is an indigenous Mexican name meaning you will always be loved, and after real searching we could not find a single dictionary or scholarly source that backs it. Behind the Name ventures only that it is possibly a variant of Yaritza, itself an elaborated form of Yara built with the same ending as Maritza, and Wiktionary lists the etymology as simply missing. What the record does show is real and impressive: essentially unknown before the 1990s, Yaretzi counted 2,028 American girls in the 2000s, 8,472 in the 2010s, and 3,103 so far this decade, and Behind the Name has it ranking 111th in Mexico in 2021.
